#PenToPaper: Be a Good Steward of Your Story
#PTP Session 2 is complete, but Sessions 3 and 4 have been cancelled. In lieu of another course, I share a link to a video that illustrates great stewardship. (And a prompt for paid subscribers.)
#PenToPaper courses have been a favorite of mine to build and to teach for several years. This year’s theme of Story Stewardship was especially exciting to put together, because it meant researching and teaching on the biggest aspect of stories that I’m drawn to: Place and how our stories influence and change a place, as well as how a place influences and changes us. We just finished Session 2, which was all about learning from the landscape and incorporated stories by Caroline Henderson, Beth Kepart, Laurel Landis, and more.
Usually at this time, I’d be inviting you to check out and sign up for Session 3, but I have had to walk away from teaching the last two sessions of #PenToPaper 2024. Oh, I could list the reasons why, but at the root is that constant battle with balance. So instead of doing something half-heartedly (or, I should say with half the attention the classes and the participants deserve), I’ll pause, take a breath, and redirect. Thank you to the writers I’ve worked with over the last few months for your patience and understanding and to the subscribers who’ve stuck around for irregular posts from the Hidden Timber Books Substack.
What happens now?
You’ll see more content here, invitations to Zoom craft and connection sessions, invitations to submit small press book reviews, updates on your next read from Hidden Timber Books — and discounts on these books!
But how does Story Stewardship end?
Oooh, I’m glad you asked. I have been all about Emergence Magazine for a while, and recently they posted another excellent video that encompasses everything about stewardship and story. Go watch Counter Mapping by Adam Loften & Emmanuel Vaughan-Lee. It’s so so good. Then, if you’re a paid subscriber, keep reading here for a #WritingPrompt. And PS. Just like all stewardship, being a good steward of your story never ends :)
